Mother Nature has not been on racing's side this summer. The Granite State Mini Sprint Club is almost half way into its season and it has yet to complete a full night of racing due to many rain outs. The club is hoping to get a full night of racing in this Sunday at Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH.
Lacey has been racing the 007 Mini Stock at Devil's Bowl Speedway the past few Fridays. The car was involved in a wreck a couple weeks ago that ended it's night and the night of many other cars on the 2nd lap of the feature. This past weekend, the 007 suffered a flat tire early in the race but the crew was able to get it changed and Lacey finished the race; coming home in 6th place. The Mini Stocks will be back in action this Friday night (6/28). The Sprint Cars of New England have also been haunted by the rain this summer. They were able to get a race in last Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway. Lacey had a career high 2nd place finish. She was able to lead the race for many laps before veteran driver Dan Douville passed her on the outside for the lead. Congratulations to Dan Douville on the win and to Chris Donnelly who finished 3rd. It was a great race and the #33 team was very excited with the 2nd place finish. Stephen Hutchinson in the #13 sprint car continues to have a great rookie season, finishing the 25 lap feature unscathed while gaining a lot of experience and having a lot of fun. Lacey and Steve will both be headed to Canaan Dirt Speedway on Wednesday July 3rd for SCoNE's special mid-week 4th of July show. The #33 Sprint car team has a full schedule for this coming weekend. The 360 will be racing with the Sprint Cars of New England on Friday night at Canaan Dirt Speedway. The 500cc and 600cc Mini Sprints will be racing with the Granite State Mini Sprints Racing Club Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway and also Sunday night at Legion Speedway. It will be a busy weekend full of great racing.
Results to be posted next week. See you at the races! Our apologies for not updating the website in the past few weeks. The 33 race team has been up to their elbows in racecars and parts and because of that, spare time has been minimal. From now on, the website should be updated a few days after each race.
The Sprint Cars of New England had their second race of the season at Canaan Dirt Speedway on June 3rd, 2011. The 33 race team was looking for a good finish to redeam themselves from the wreck the first race of the season. Lacey had a great run in the heat race, leading for a few lap but ending up finishing 3rd. That put the #33 starting 3rd in the feature. 18 sprint cars took to the track for the feature. It was a fast and exciting race. Exactly what the Sprint Cars of New England are known for. In the end, the #33 finished in the 6th spot. A great finish for the #33 team. Visit www.nesprintcars.com for a full story and finishing order and for photos visit mrmac.smugmug.com The first race of the year started with a lot of excitement for the debut of the new chassis but didn't end well for the #33 sprint car. The car made contact with the turn four wall during the feature resulting in a flip. Lacey was uninjured but the car received quite a bit of damage.
The crew has been busy tearing the car apart and is in the process of ordering parts and getting it back together for the next race. Top 3: 1: 7x Dan Douville 2: 58 Clay Dow 3: 03 Dalton Varney To see full results and photos from the first race please visit www.nesprintcars.com and mrmac.smugmug.com First Night of the Triple Crown Weekend

Visit mrmac.smugmug.com for photos from the event The night started out well with a 3rd place finish in the heat race but our night ended a little earlier than planned. Our wing slider valve went bad during the feature and soaked the cockpit and driver with powersteering fluid. The car was fixed saturday morning so it could be raced sunday at Bid Daddy's Speedbowl.

July 9th at Canaan Speedway was the site of the GSMS action the 600’s rolled out for their heat with a ruff track ahead of them. Luke Greenwood and Tim Beard made up the front row, with Luke grabbing the lead at the start and never let go while the battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots with Terry Reil, Johnny Chestnut, Tim Beard and Troy Boissoneau. With no yellow flag thrown and a lot of passing the heat went by quickly with the #89 of Luke winning, #11 Terry 2nd, #2 Troy (subbing for Josh) 3rd, #75L Johnny 4th, #13 Doug McPhail 5th, #28 Tim 6th and #7S Derek Elderidge finishing 7th. The second heat for the 600’s saw Matt Robie and Brian Gray leading the charge, Brian and Matt battled for the top spot while Anthony Nocella, Rich Crooker and Barry Coolen battled for 3rd, 4th and 5th spots. Again no yellows and at the checker you saw #3V Brian take home the heat win with #75 Matt 2nd, #21 Rich 3rd #92 Anthony 4th and Barry 5th with car troubles. The 500’s took to the track for their heat with #77 Troy on the pole and son Josh on the outside pole. When the green fell Troy grabbed the lead with #33 Lacey Hanson hot on his heels, after a couple tries from Lacey for the lead she took over the top spot followed by #6 Larry who now is challenging for the lead. Larry grabs the lead moving Lacey back one spot while Troy develops car problems and pulls off moving Josh, Peter, Robert, Todd and Laury all up one spot each. When the checkered came out #6 Larry took home the heat win with Lacey 2nd, #05 of Josh 3rd, #04 of Peter Belliveau 4th, #28 Robert 5th, #77 Troy 6th, #63 Todd 7th and #97 of Laury Clark in 8th with car problems as well. The features started with the 600’s first rolling out on the track with a better surface than the heat. The front row was made up of the #75 and the #3V, when the green waved it only took 3 turns before the action started with a bad crash. Turn 4 was the scene where Brian, Tim Terry and Doug all came together with Tim rolling 2 times and Brian and Doug with a head on collision and Doug rolling also. Everybody walked away unscathed but Doug needed to go to the hospital later with pains to his back and foot. Once the race got underway again, Matt grabbed the lead and would not let go Johnny and Luke tried to challenge Matt but had no success. In the middle of the pack it was a free for all the spots where changing once or twice every lap. When the checkered waved #75 of Matt took home the bacon in 1st place, #75L Johnny in 2nd, #89 Luke with 3rd, #21 Rich 4th, #92 of Anthony 5th, #7S of Drew Elderidge 6th, the 7th spot of #11 Terry, #2 Troy in 8th (with an early exit when the right front tire went down) #13M Doug in 9th, #28 Tim 10th, #3V Brian for the 11th spot and #44 of Barry finishing the pack in 12th spot. The 500’s came out for their feature and thank god it did not start like the 600’s. #77 of Troy and #33 of Lacey made the front row, when the green waved Troy and Lacey took it to turn one and two but down the back stretch Josh went high and passed both making it three wide into turn three. Out of turn four Josh had the lead Lacey second Larry third and Troy fourth. Larry tried to get Josh a couple of times but with the help of a lapped car Larry made a move low and Josh went high around the lapped car of #97 Laury to take the lead and Josh on every lap tried to take it back but had no success. In the end the #6 of Larry took home his third feature win with Josh in 2nd, Lacey 3rd, Laury 4th, Todd 5th and Troy in 6th with a broken chain. The next event for GSMSRC will be July 17th at Bear Ridge Speedway hope to see you there. Troy B. (Head of Tech) Article Taken from http://www.granitestateminisprint.org |
